Bill Borst

Clerk of Session

As Clerk of Session Bill leads Hope’s monthly Session meetings where Hope's Elders report on their committee activities and upcoming events. Bill also serves as Hope’s liaison with the Chicago Presbytery and files the annual reports.

Tom Schmidt

Building & Grounds Chair

Tom maintains Hope’s facilities by not only stopping by routinely to work on a project, but also organizing other B&G volunteers. In addition, he monitors Hope’s annual service contracts and utilities.

Carol Gats

Christian Education Chair

Carol guides CE which provides educational opportunities for everyone at Hope, including activities during church for children, confirmation class, and adult education events throughout the year covering a wide variety of topics.

Bob Strutzel

Communications Chair

Bob leads a team that informs Hopers and the surrounding community of upcoming events. In addition, they maintain the website and post regularly on Facebook, local online news sources, and update Hope’s outdoor sign. 

Glenn Stith

Finance Chair

Glenn and his committee handle our monthly finances and record donations to Hope. They also work with each Session committee to establish the annual budget and organize Hope’s pledge campaign.

Betsy DeVita

Pastoral Partners Chair

Hope’s membership is divided into “clusters,” and each Pastoral Partner connects with those in their group with occasional phone calls or a card in the mail. This committee also organizes Hope’s “Helping Hands” ministry, which provides transportation to appointments, home-delivered meals, and the use of medical equipment if needed. Betsy and her committee also organize our Palm Sunday Brunch.

Dave Donaldson

Personnel Chair

Dave leads the committee that oversees hiring and yearly reviews of Hope’s staff.

Jim Vroman

Relating Beyond Hope Chair

RBH, led by Jim, plans activities with Hope’s local partners, including the People’s Resource Center, Bethel New Life, and Hope Chicago. In addition, RBH supports other local community service groups, our sister church in Havana, Cuba and    world-wide mission organizations.

Sheri Clubb

Worship, Music & Arts

Sheri and a dedicated group of volunteers work closely with Pastor Ron and Music Director Yuliya to plan the weekly worship service, as well as communion services and the art displayed in the sanctuary. WMA also plans other special services during the year and organizes the ushers, lay readers, and after-service prayer volunteers. A group of volunteers, led by Bob Strutzel, serves on Hope’s Audio Team, supporting our Sunday worship service, special choir performances, and other events.
